From sap to syrup

This print story appeared in the November 2026 issue of National Geographic Kids magazine.

Part of National Geographic’s publication for children ages six to eight, this graphic explains the journey of sugar maple sap from tree to syrup. Nature, science, and food are woven together through a handcrafted, layered illustration built from colored paper, acetate, and cellophane. Each element was individually cut and assembled to create an engaging step-by-step visual narrative that ends with a stack of pancakes topped with fresh maple syrup.
