Museum of Portimão

The permanent exhibit at the Museum of Portimão, in the south of Portugal, includes a series of fish illustrations I created. Operating in a former canning factory, the museum wanted to show the species most used in the industry—sardines (Sardina pilchardus), mackerels (Scomber japonicus), tunas (Thunnus thynnus) and anchovies (Engraulis encrasicolus)—and how they used to be prepared at that site for sale and consumption.

The mackerel illustration was selected to be part of the Illustrators Club exhibition at the Edison Place Art Gallery in Washington DC, and the sardine illustration was at the Focus on Nature exhibit in the New York State Museum in Albany.
