This graphic was part of the feature story about dog racing in the March 2021 issue of National Geographic magazine.

Florida, one of the last states where racing was still legal, recently closed all its tracks, one more sign of the decline of the sport. Greyhounds, long bred to race competitively, will mostly be retired as pets, but they will continue to be the fastest dogs in the world with their unique anatomy and behavior.
