This Northern Short-Tailed Shrew (Blarina brevicauda) watercolor was created during the Com.En.ART artist-in-residence program at the Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station (Rensselaerville, NY). The preserve is one of the oldest in the state of New York and makes a significant contribution to environmental awareness in the region. It’s lakes, meadows and waterfall are surrounded by trails and the entire area is an inspiring and rich working environment for artists and scientists alike.
