COVID-19 Pandemic animations

This set of animation videos narrated in Portuguese cover different aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project was a collaboration with the Graduate Program of Science for Development of the Gulbenkian Science Institute (Portugal) and was intended for audiences in Portuguese-speaking African countries.

The first video, “Who wants to be healthy?,” addresses common COVID-19 pandemic myths and is formatted like a television game show. Contestants answer quizzes about the coronavirus and how to prevent the disease for the opportunity to win a medal, a mask, and a guided tour to a science laboratory. The second video talks about the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and prevention of the disease, emphasizing the importance of social distancing, mask-wearing, and frequent hand washing. The last video shares what is known about the origin of the pandemic, talking about zoonosis, or the transmission of diseases from wildlife to humans, and different factors that promote that crossover.
